أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ١

Did We not expand thy breast for thee

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ٢

and lift from thee thy burden,

الَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ٣

the burden that weighed down thy back?

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ٤

And exalted for you your esteem?

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٥

So truly with hardship comes ease,

إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٦

truly with hardship comes ease.’

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ ٧

So when thou art empty, labour,

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَب ٨

and let thy Lord be thy Quest.
