Al-Muddaththir

يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ ١

O enwrapped (Beloved!)

قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ ٢

Rise and give warning (to the people).

وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ٣

And glorify the Greatnesss (and Majesty) of your Lord.

وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ٤

And (always) keep your (visible and spiritual) attire purified and cleansed (as before).

وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ ٥

And keep away from the idols (and sins as usual).

وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ ٦

And do not do a favour (to anyone with the purpose of) seeking more from him.

وَلِرَبِّكَ فَاصْبِرْ ٧

And observe patience for the sake of your Lord.

فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ ٨

Then when the Trumpet will be blown (a second time),

فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ ٩

So that Day (the Day of Resurrection) will be an extremely hard day,

عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ ١٠

Not at all easy for the disbelievers.

ذَرْنِي وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا ١١

Leave Me (to take revenge) on him whom I have created alone,

وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ مَالًا مَّمْدُودًا ١٢

And I provided him wealth in abundance,

وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا ١٣

And (gave) him sons remaining present (before him),

وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُ تَمْهِيدًا ١٤

And granted him affluence (in sources of luxury).

ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ ١٥

Yet he desires that I should give him more.

كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ لِآيَاتِنَا عَنِيدًا ١٦

No way! He has certainly been inimical to Our Revelations.

سَأُرْهِقُهُ صَعُودًا ١٧

Soon I shall afflict him with (the punishment of) a severe toil.

إِنَّهُ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ ١٨

Surely, he reflected and devised a plot.

فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ١٩

So let (Allah’s) curse be on him! How he plotted!

ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ٢٠

Let again (Allah’s) curse be on him! How he plotted!
