Al-Infitâr

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انفَطَرَتْ ١

When (all) the heavenly spheres will be split apart,

وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انتَثَرَتْ ٢

And when the planets will fall and scatter,

وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ ٣

And when oceans (and rivers) will flood and overflow,

وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ ٤

And when graves will be overturned,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ ٥

Then everyone will come to know what actions he sent forward and what he left behind.

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ ٦

O man! What has deluded you concerning your Gracious Lord,

الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ ٧

(The One) Who created you (from a fertiled ovum in the mother’s womb), then, (to structure your limbs at the fetal stage,) He shaped you aright, then brought about proportionate alteration in your constitution?

فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ ٨

He constituted you in whatever form He willed.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ ٩

That is the truth, (but) on the contrary, you deny the Day of Recompense,

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ ١٠

Whereas there are guardian angels appointed over you,

كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ ١١

(Who are) dignified, the scribes (writing the records of all your deeds).

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ ١٢

They know (all) those (actions) which you do.

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ ١٣

Indeed, the truly good will be in the Garden of Bliss.

وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ ١٤

And surely, the evildoers will be in the (Blazing Fire of) Hell.

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ ١٥

They will enter it on the Day of Rising,

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ ١٦

And will never be able to absent themselves from it (Hell).

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ ١٧

And what have you made out what the Day of Recompense is?

ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ ١٨

So what have you learnt about what the Day of Recompense is?

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ ١٩

It is the Day when no soul will own anything for any other soul, and the command on that Day will be entirely Allah’s.
