الْقَارِعَةُ ١

The Clatterer!

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ٢

What is the Clatterer?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ٣

And what shall teach thee what is the Clatterer?

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ ٤

The day that men shall be like scattered moths,

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ ٥

and the mountains shall be like plucked wool-tufts.

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ ٦

Then he whose deeds weigh heavy in the Balance

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ٧

shall inherit a pleasing life,

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ ٨

but he whose deeds weigh light in the Balance

فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ ٩

shall plunge in the womb of the Pit.

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ ١٠

And what shall teach thee what is the Pit?

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ ١١

A blazing Fire!
